St. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 16:2, “Every Sunday each of you must put aside some money, in proportion to what he has earned….”(The Good News Bible) 

The New Testament book of Hebrews reminds us of Abraham’s gifts, “…Abraham gave one tenth of all he had….”(Hebrews 7:2 - The Good News Bible) and  “…Jacob made a vow to the Lord: …’I will give you a tenth of everything you give me’…” (Genesis 28:20 & 22 – The Good News Bible).
